Ms. Carrera has a BFA and MFA from Utah State University where she studied under mentor Glen Edwards. She adores the academic representational painting giants like John Singer Sargent and William Merritt Chase as well as passionate and raw artists like Diego Rivera and contemporary Chicano painter Mark Vallen.

She's painted many ‘creatives’: writers, dancers, acrobats, painters, musicians, fashion designers, graphic designers, landscape architects and culinary artists. "Anyone who is passionate in their work, that’s what I enjoy celebrating with my brush- the energy of engagement… someone doing what they love to do or being with who they love."

Ms Carrera has her work in numerous private collections, and has painted commissions for a number of celebrities and notable institutions including the San Francisco Symphony with conductor Michael Tillson,  Kenwood Inn and Spa in Sonoma County, and Seasons Restaurant in Davis, CA.
