Jackson

Missouri
, as a young man, Mr. Wilson went to the
University
of
Missouri
and studied at the Kansas City Art Institute,
earned a scholarship to
Yale
University
and served in the
U.S.
military. After this, he earned a Master’s
Degree in Fine Art at
Boston
University
, where he was voted Most Outstanding Graduate
student in both Painting and Drawing for two years in a row. Mr. Wilson then
moved to
New
York City
where he would develop as a painter with a strong
desire to capture the everyday life of people in the city. Over the next twenty
years, he exhibited in several major art galleries and received a number of
positive reviews in the New York Times.

In 1990, he was
ready for a change, so he moved to the tropical town of
Alamos
in
Mexico
. There, he met his wife, and become
so fluent in Spanish that he was asked to be an interpreter for the NAFTA
economic conference between the States,
Canada
and
Mexico
. After
the birth of his two children, Mr. Wilson moved with his family back to
Missouri
.
It was in
Mexico
that Jim Wilson become fascinated
with painting the daily street life of the locals. His use of color and choice
of subject brilliantly portrays the intimate details of everyday existence of
the Mexican people.
Jim Wilson is
collected internationally and has been included in numerous one man and group
exhibitions during his 30 year artistic career.
